Martine Blundell joined SHAC in 2023 and works primarily as an encaustic artist, though she freely explores a wide range of media. Drawn to abstraction and intuitive mark-making, Martine approaches each piece without a fixed destination—allowing colour, movement, and instinct to lead the way.
With no formal training, she has enriched her practice through workshops with inspiring artists, including Supria, who introduced her to encaustic techniques, and Kreso, who expanded her understanding of painting styles such as Cubism, glazing, and Surrealism. Creativity runs deep in her family, spanning generations, and she considers art something she was quite literally born into.
Martine loves working on large canvases, embracing bold colour palettes and energetic compositions. A lifelong doodler with a restless imagination, she finds joy in the element of surprise that emerges in each finished work. Above all, she hopes her paintings bring happiness—sparking smiles, lightness, and a sense of playful discovery.
